School Board Elections

Are you interested in running for a position on our school board?

A board member must be an eligible elector of the school district. According to the Wisconsin Elections Commission, in order to qualify for placement on the ballot as a candidate in a school board election, a person must be:

  1. A citizen of the United States;
  2. 18 years of age or older; and
  3. A resident of the school district for at least 28 consecutive days at the time of filing a declaration of candidacy.

In the School District of Wisconsin Dells, school board members are elected according to a plan of apportionment of board seats among the cities, towns and villages in our district. The person elected to an apportioned seat must reside in the designated geographic area at the time he or she takes the oath of office. In all school board elections other than Milwaukee, each board member is ultimately elected by the votes of the electors of the entire school district.

Stop by Central Office for a candidate packet or call Brenda Gurgel at 608-254-7769 x6022 for information. Candidates must file declarations of candidacy and campaign registration statements for the 2023 Spring Election by 5pm on January 3, 2023.
